Grammar probably wasn't your favorite subject in school; circling nouns or verbs in a string of unrelated sentences is just plain boring! The good news is, there are better ways to teach grammar, and it can even be the most fun you have all day!
This activity had my Srta. Aventurera (6 years old) cracking up. I originally made it for Sr. Científico, who is now 8. When he saw Srta. Aventurera laughing, he wanted in on the fun, too, and jumped right in.
I designed this activity to work for students with no knowledge of parts of speech as well as students who were currently learning or had already learned them. It could be the perfect addition to your test prep, something to have for a sub, or fun morning work. Did I mention this activity is FREE? Just click the picture or right here to go download your copy. If you happen to have downloaded it before, you might want to grab a new copy; I've updated it to use less ink!
If your students enjoy this activity, they might also enjoy the full center. Sr. Científico pulled out the full winter set this morning, and this was one of his favorite sentences:
There's a set for each season, which you can check out here.
What are your favorite ways to teach parts of speech and other grammar concepts? I'm always looking for new ways to make often-dry topics more exciting, so share away!
