I love using close reading, and interactive notebooks with my kiddos during literacy time. That’s why I designed this resource that meshes the two concepts together. Each one of our close reading packs comes complete a code chart, five engaging thematic texts, a standard close reading tab sheet for each text, and five interactive notebook extension activities. With these materials, your students will dig deep while reading and coding engaging texts and demonstrate comprehension through fun interactive notebook activities.
Here's an example of our close read text about camels. Students mark the text with close reading codes, and then complete a set of standard tabs in their interactive notebooks.
Then we do an extension activity in our interactive notebooks. The type of activity varies from text to text.
